What dates do I need to remember?

Secret Art Prize 2018 applications open 5th of March

Early Bird Application (£10 entry): Closes 31st March 

Applications close: 1st June

Voting for People’s Choice Award open's: 15th June

Voting for People’s Choice Award close's:  15th July

Winners to be announced at the award ceremony at The Hoxton hotel Shoreditch on 8th August

Work selected for exhibition to be delivered to Curious Duke Gallery by: 29th September

Secret Art Prize 2018's winning pieces will be show cased at Moniker Art Fair 4th - 7th October

Work to be collected by request of the gallery.

 

How do I apply?

Multiple applications may be submitted by the same artist at an extra £5 per piece.

Limited to 4 pieces. Please note that including more images will give the judges more of an idea of your portfolio but will in no way influence the judging process. You will still be marked on the image/es you submit.  

 

When applying for the Secret Art Prize 2018 you will be asked for:

A short statement about your work and yourself that should be no longer than 300 words. We will not be editing any statements.

·      Details of the artwork that you are submitting for consideration, such as Title, medium, dimensions and price.

·      Link to a website for the judges to take a look at your portfolio.

·      Links social media platforms, including Twitter Instagram and Facebook.

·      Contact details.

Submission of artwork

Please submit work through the application page via Zealous, we ask for one image of your artwork with an admin fee of £15.00.  The artwork that you submit must be available for the winners exhibition in October 2018. Curious Duke Gallery reserve the right to reject applications of work that are deemed unsuitable for exhibition, be it explicit or antagonising, at our discretion.  All work submitted must measure 1.5 x 1.5 m or less.

Between 5th March and 31st March there will be an early bird offer where the application fee will be reduced to £10.

Please contact Curious Duke Gallery on contact@secretartprize.com should your the artwork dimensions measure larger than this.

 

How do I pay?

All payments must be made through Zealous upon completion of your application; only after this will we consider your application.

What is a project?

Your project on Zealous is the art work that you will be submitted for the art prize. (If you have any questions please email us!)

How are the winners decided?

There will be one overall winner with 4 runners up and the People’s Choice winner. It is possible to win the Secret Art Prize and the Peoples’ Choice Award. After applicants have closed, we will shortlist entries to 100 names, which will then be, will be added to the People’s Choice award page for public voting, and onto the judges for consideration. 

 

How do the judges vote?

Once applications close, the shortlisted applications will be given to the judges to award points, and ordered 1-10 by themselves with the artist with the highest score winning. The gallery will then collate these votes from all judges to choose the overall winner, using the lowest common number per shortlisted artist.

 

Delivery and collection of artwork.

We ask that applicants selected for exhibition arrange the delivery of their artwork, and collection within 7 days of the exhibition closing. Once submitted, artworks must be available for the exhibition in October. We cannot reimburse costs.

 

What does mentoring from Curious Duke Gallery entail?

We nurture our artists, and work closely with them to push their portfolios and career. In daily gallery life we will have group exhibitions throughout the year, with annual Christmas and Summer shows, solo shows, mentoring, opportunities to meet all of the CDG artists, featuring of our artists and art works on our social media channels. As an award winning gallery we also collaborate with companies outside of our Whitecross Street home, such as Timberyard, Look Mum No Hands and Hoxton Hotel. Eleni Duke and CDG have been featured in Red Magazine, Le Cool, Inspiring City and Time Out. As a Secret Art Prize winner you will be included in this.
